Whether young or old, hurtling down the hillside or ultra laid-back, everyone can ride a sled. And let's face it, slicing through the snow on a sled is good fun, pure and simple. There are numerous opportunities for sledders close to the Steirerhof.
The Rittisberg is home to one of the most beautiful natural sled runs in the area and is even open after dark.
Every Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday from 7 p.m., you can ride the chairlift up to the Rittisberg mountain station, where your nighttime sledding enjoyment on this 3.5 km-long hill gets under way.
The sleds themselves will be waiting for you at the mountain station and are included in the lift price. The chip card you need will be provided at the ticket window.
A beautiful hiking path (which begins at Almdorf Reiteralm) will lead you on a 90-minute walk up to the rustic Hochalm. Here, all toboggan fans are greeted by a 4 km-long sled run that is also floodlit after dark – your final destination, once again, Almdorf Reiteralm.
If you prefer not to hike up, you also have the option of phoning ahead and booking a ride on a ski-doo, which will then bring you up to the Hochalm. After 4 p.m., except in heavy snow.
The 7 km-long natural sled run on the Hochwurzen is one of the longest in the region, guaranteeing high-spirited sledding expeditions, both day and night.
Enjoy a comfortable ride up the mountain on the Hochwurzen summit lift. Huts are distributed relatively evenly between the top and bottom of the sled run, affording ample opportunities for a refreshment break whenever you are in the mood.
