We know hiking is one of the healthiest sports.
But longer mountain tours and unfamiliar heights can often present less experienced hikers with greater challenges. That's why it's all the more important to start your adventure well prepared.
It's best to start strength and endurance training six to eight weeks before a hike. A 45-minute brisk walk two to three times a week - ideally with a few meters of altitude - is enough to get the cardiovascular system going. A good workout is regular one-day hiking tours, during which altitude and kilometers can be steadily increased. You can also break in your hiking boots at the same time.
Tip: Hike even in bad weather so that you can check the suitability of your equipment at the same time.
A balanced diet with the right amount of protein, good fats and carbohydrates is provided by legumes, nuts and seeds as well as fruit, vegetables, pasta, wholemeal bread and potatoes. These are optimal energy suppliers and give the body enough reserves for long tours.

Attention: The route should be planned carefully and realistically!
Too long, too far or too high is not a good idea. The tour should also be fun. Also, always keep an eye on the weather!
It's best to tackle big climbs in the morning or when it's cooler. Flatter sections can be mastered at any time of day.
Be sure to include rest breaks in your plan!
Sufficient provisions and especially enough water supply absolutely consider. But remember that you also have to carry the backpack over the mountain yourself.
In addition to snacks, dry clothing and comfortable hiking socks should also be included in your backpack.
